MEET RECAP -- 3RD ANNUAL CLUB TRIBE MASTERS CLASSIC (3.17.18)
Club Tribe welcomed 104 Masters swimmers representing 12 teams to Williamsburg on Saturday for the 3rd Annual Club Tribe Masters Classic, and it was a complete success. In addition to having a ton of fun and racing well across the board, Club Tribe once again raised a significant amount of money for W&M Swimming. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who swam, promoted, donated, cheered, wrangled relays, and otherwise helped make it such a great day.
One of the things that made it such a special day was that we had terrific Club Tribe debuts from five swimmers (Victoria Maqueda, Ted Lynch, Lee Duncan, Adrian Maholchic and Alex Montes de Oca), and a number of swimmers from various branches of Club Tribe who competed together for the first time. Complete results are linked below, but I wanted to highlight our 25+ Mixed 200 Free Relay (Kevin Gallagher, Gabby Mizerak, Kyle Loughran, Katie Grier), which took down the Virginia LMSC record in 1:34.46, and Doug Slater, who established new 60-64 Virginia records in the 50 BK (27.69), 100 IM (1:02.17) and 400 IM (5:08.78). Doug has been on a tear this winter, having also demolished the 100 BK & 200 BK records in January (1:01.62 / 2:16.58). We had a number of other swimmers who rattled VA records and otherwise swam very well, and we’re looking forward to great stuff at Zones in April and Nationals in May.
