MEET RECAP -- 2018 ALEXANDRIA TROPICAL SPLASH (1.28.18)
Eight Club Tribe swimmers competed on January 28 at the Alexandria Tropical Splash, and they got our team off to a great start for 2018.
Rich Williams, Michael Lovett and Gabby Mizerak won a FOURTH CONSECUTIVE Coconut Relay championship — this clearly deserves a 30 for 30 documentary. Two relays beat all comers in the Mixed category (25+ 200 MR – Gabby Mizerak, Rich Williams, Kraig Gass, Katie Grier – 1:51.51; 35+ 200 FR R – Kraig Gass, Krista Gass, Marie Restrepo, Dan Earle – 1:45.76).
Tons of individual highlights, so I’ll note just a few here: Marie Restrepo swam a sharp 100 IM (1:13.77); Katie Grier dropped a 54.52 in the 100 Free (in January!?); Coach Rich battled back from injury to achieve mid-season form in the breaststrokes (30.94 / 1:08.92); Dan Earle hammered an Ironman program (500 FR 5:49.42, 400 IM 5:11.93, plus more); and Kraig Gass smoked a 26.79 in the 50 Fly. Great job, everyone!
