MEET RECAP -- 2017 ALEXANDRIA TROPICAL SPLASH (1.29.17)

Eleven Club Tribe swimmers came together on January 29 for the Alexandria Tropical Splash, and we had a great time on deck and at the MGM National Harbor casino afterwards.  Highlights included outstanding Club Tribe debuts from Marina Falcone, Carter Head and Liz Baugher and a Coconut Relay free-for-all, in which Rich Williams, Michael Lovett and Gabby Mizerak held off a furious challenge from two other Club Tribe relays to win their THIRD consecutive Coconut Relay championship.  It’s a three-peat, and we may be looking at a minimum eight-peat.

In the 200 Free Relay, the Club Tribe Women (Marina, Lindsay, Katie and Liz — 1:55.08) and Men (Carter, Scott, Dan and Kevin — 1:33.30) swam to victory.  In perhaps the most exciting race of the day, the Club Tribe Mixed 200 Medley Relay (Gabby, Rich, Michael and Marina) beat all comers — including a solid all-male team from Arlington Masters — with a 1:47.79.

Katie Grier (35-39):  50 FR (25.24); 100 BK (1:05.18); 50 Fly (28.02).

Carter Head (18-24):  500 FR (5:18.63); 100 BR (1:05.19); 200 BR (2:23.61).

Kevin Gallagher (25-29):  50 FR (21.43); 50 Fly (23.80).

Scott Hensley (30-34):  200 BK (2:01.70); 100 Fly (54.21).

Michael Lovett (35-39):  50 FR (23.49); 100 IM (58.04).

Rich Williams (40-44):  50 BK (29.21); 50 BR (31.05); 100 BR (1:08.56).

Dan Earle (40-44):  100 IM (1:05.29); 400 IM (5:17.32)
