2016 TROPICAL SPLASH MEET RECAP (1.31.16)

Eight Club Tribe swimmers competed on Sunday at the Tropical Splash in Alexandria, VA, and it was a truly special day. Highlights are too numerous to detail fully here (results should be posted this weekend), but included an impressive Club Tribe debut for Kevin Gallagher (’10), an outstanding Mixed 200 Free Relay of Glass, Mizerak, Gallagher and Grier (1:34.64 with zero race), and swims by Rich Williams and Katie Grier that were consistent with their College dual meet times – FROM THE 90s!! But the real action came at the end, with Williams, Michael Lovett and Mizerak defending their Coconut Relay championship from a year ago in the face of a torrid challenge from Gallagher, Glass and Lindsay Lovett. The GREEN team may have come up a bit short, but they still won consolation coconuts, and they did push the GOLD team to go 8 seconds faster than last year. And when it was all over, it was definitely 5 O’Clock somewhere.
