MEET RECAP -- GERMANTOWN WINTER SOLSTICE SCM MEET (12.1.18)

Fifteen Club Tribe swimmers competed last Saturday at the Winter Solstice Meet in Germantown, MD to close out an outstanding Fall season. Club Tribe set team participation records at each of our three regular meets this Fall, and we’re looking forward to a spectacular Spring Season, beginning with the Alexandria Tropical Splash on Jan. 27. We also rattled the team record for post-meet partying, with the last Uber departing in the 3AM hour (thanks to the Lovetts for hosting!).

At Germantown on Saturday, we had fantastic Club Tribe debuts from Christoph Berger and Vince Romano and we swam very well as a team.  Highlights included the following:

— In a deep, competitive meet, four Club Tribe swimmers led all Men in five individual events (Cory Camp, 200 FR & 100 BK; Rich Williams, 50 BR; Christoph Berger, 200 IM; and Kraig Gass, 100 Fly), while three Club Tribe swimmers led all Women in five individual events (Ellen Minzenmayer, 50 BR, 100 BR & 200 BR; Katie Grier, 50 BK; and Hayley Wittsack, 200 BK).

— Rich Williams established two new VA LMSC records in the 40-44 age group in the 50 Breast (32.45) and 200 Breast (2:46.37), while Cory Camp lowered the 18-24 VA LMSC Record in the 200 Free to 1:59.06.

— Club Tribe shattered the VA LMSC records in the 160-199 age group in the 200 Free Relay (1:52.51 — Rich Williams, Katie Grier, Kraig Gass, Krista Gass) and the 200 Medley Relay (2:11.19 — Michele Choe, Rich Williams, Kraig Gass, Julia Davidson).

— The 500 Crescendo Relay team of Cory Camp (200), Christoph Berger (150), Katie Grier (100) and Krista Gass (50) brought home the championship and established a new meet record with an adjusted time of 4:47.33 (5:07.33 in the water).

Thanks to Germantown Masters for hosting a great meet!
